Stan Friesen
While leading a family of racers, he initially had a fine career as a winning Modified driver in the era of the 1960s and early-1970s and was the 1972 Weedsport (N.Y.) Modified champion.
When he retired from race driving, he became owner and promoter of N.Y.'s Ransomville Speedway and Merrittville Speedway in Canada. Friesen also promoted other speedways, such as N.Y.'s Lancaster. Stan passed away in December 2012 at age 78. His sons Jamie, Joel and the late Alex Friesen have also been very successful racing promoters; and grandsons Stewart, James-Michael and Curtis are winning race drivers.
