Kramer Williamson
Kramer Williamson began his storied racing career in 1968 in the Super Sportsman division at Silver Spring Speedway. While not winning that first season, he ran well enough to be named Rookie of the Year. That changed dramatically in 1969, when Williamson won four times and the Silver Spring championship. He continued in the Super Sportsman one more year, adding three more Silver Spring victories and three at Susquehanna.
In 1971, Williamson first raced a full sprint car, and won, at Susquehanna, after just seven outings. He went on that year to be named Rookie of the Year at Susquehanna and Port Royal and Williams Grove.
Over the next dozen years, Williamson was among the top Pennsylvania Posse drivers, scoring 77 victories, track championships at the Grove in 1976 and ’78, the title at Selinsgrove also in ’78, and in both ‘76 and ‘78 the overall KARS championships.
Switching to the 360 sprints of URC in the mid-1980s, Williamson continued his winning way, adding 67 more wins to his record for a career total of 154 victories and URC championships in 1991, ’92, and ’95.
In 2008, Williamson was inducted into the National Sprint Car Hall of Fame.
Sadly, we lost Kramer on August 4, 2013 following an accident at Lincoln Speedway.
Tonight we honor Kramer Williamson by inducting him into the EMPA Hall of Fame.
