The "Everett Express" Gerald Chamberlain won championships at many speedways in the northeast.Gerald was one of the 1992 inaugural, Dirt Motorsports Hall of Fame inductees.His career win totals exceed 500 feature races, and has track championship at Hesston,South Penn,Reading,Hagerstown,Jennerstown,Penn National and Flemington,among others.He is also a winner at such noted events as the Daniel Boone 200,Lebanon Valley 200,Eastern States 200 along with wins at Nazareth and Five Mile Point.
Chamberlain's career started in the 60's, at South Penn Speedway in Everett.He was a two time track champion there. He was the track champion at Hesston in 1965 and claimed a Hershey Stadium track championship in 1967.
Chamberlain headed east and got a ride in the Deasey 707 at the Reading Fairgrounds. In 1970 he teamed up with Joseph Bullock and along with friend and crew chief Gus Frear their 2 consecutive year win record of 22 and 31 would never be equaled.The 1972 racing season saw Gerald,Gus and Bullock,win over 80 races, Chamberlain also won two Daniel Boone 200-lap races at Reading , one of which found Frear repairing a leaking steering box which Gerald battled with for 140 laps.In victory lane,he tumbled out of the 76,after using all his strength on the speedway .
Chamberlain's weekend were still finding him and his wife Joanne heading east and it still reaped rewards as he added track championships in 1974 and 1976 at Flemington Fair Speedway in New Jersey. Chamberlain's career continued on in the 80's and 90's with some small block modified events at Susquehanna Speedway,being a team mate with Scott Haus in some of the central PA late model events and also assuming the promotional reins of Bedford Speedway.
Chamberlain was a multi time Driver of the Year and Most Popular Driver award winner in his illustrious career that also included some events in NASCAR.
Chamberlain still resides in Everett,PA with his wife Joanne.
