You can participate in the yearly photography and writing media contests. Award winners to be chosen at the yearly convention in January. (see contest rules page for more information on this.)
Members are allowed to vote for candidates for induction into the Eastern Motorsport Hall of Fame.

Who can join EMPA

Professional Press membership

Open to all legitimate members of the working motorsports press. This includes broadcast, internet and print media covering all forms of motorsporting events. Press membership carries with it full voting privileges in the association. Individuals applying for membership must submit at least 10 tearsheets (clippings) of their published efforts or video/broadcast tapes from the previous calendar year. Internet/on-line media must provide proof of performance. A letter from the webmaster of the site is also recommended.

Professional Press membership is $50.00 per year.

NOTE: EMPA Membership credentials are not designed to be used as race credentials. They are for identification purposes only. Many industry people use our directory and call us for information on members..and non-members.

Associate Membership

Open to race organizers/promoters, public relations practitioners, advertising representatives, manufacturing executives, officials and other interested motorsport related representatives. Associate membership carries no voting privileges. Associate members receive all mailings and are invited to attend most functions.

Associate Membership is $100.00 per year.

Corporate Membership

Open to all corporations, speedways, marketing firms, organizations and other interested in the relationship of the working motorsports press with their corporate efforts. Corporate membership included sponsorship of one edition of the newsletter (1/2 page ad in one edition ) and also includes two associate memberships.

Corporate membership is available for an annual fee of $250.00

The Mission of the EMPA

The mission of the Eastern Motorsport Press Association (EMPA) is to foster a better understanding of the sport gaining recognition for the motorsports press, improving working condition for the working racing media and honoring deserving individuals who make or have made contributions to the sport.

About EMPA

Since its founding in 1969, EMPA has grown from a handful of members to become one of the largest motorsports media organizations in the nation with more than 250 members.

EMPA holds the only annual working convention featuring seminars, press conferences with outstanding competitors, sponsors, organizers and promoters. Technical specialist present workshops. Photography, journalism and broadcasting competitions are sponsored to recognize excellence within each respective field. These competitions are judged by professionals, experts in the field that are not involved in the competition or member of the organization.

EMPA recognizes the responsibility and its unique position to bring divergent motorsports positions together whenever possible. Supplemental events are planned throughout the year to coincide with major racing programs in the East. At these events, members are given an opportunity to receive information first hand from noted racing personalities, thereby gaining a greater perspective of new developments in the motor racing world. A regular newsletter also keeps members informed of the happenings within the organization.
