Merv Treicher

           Merv Tricher, of  Sanborn, New York,  competed with excellence  
throughout a driving career that spanned a quarter of a century, and  
was highlighted by track championships and major race victories on  
both dirt and asphalt speedways.

           His achievements took him far afield of his native upstate  New York racing roots after having established himself regionally by conquering  the paved Lancaster Speedway where he won multiple track championships and the dirt tracks at Ransomville.

 
           Treichler is the only driver to have won both the Race of Champions on the pavement at Langhorne, in 1970, and the SEF 200 at the New York  
State Fairgrounds in Syracuse just eleven years later, then repeating  
on “The Moody Mile” the next year.

           Other major Treichler wins came at Watkins Glen, N.Y. and Daytona Beach on the road course, both in Modifieds.  He also competed in the NASCAR Nationwide Series in the mid-eighties.

           For most of his career, Treichler built, owned and drove  
his own series of signature number 58 cars.  He was considered an  
innovator particularly with several of his paved track cars, including  
a noteworthy maroon coupe that had a cockpit placement on the right  
side of the car.
