Born on July 21 1946 Hueytown Alabama's Neil Bonnett was a member of the famed Alabama Gang.

His friendly persoanlity made him popular with the fans. Bonnett is credited by NASCAR with 18 career victories. Among those wins were back-to-back victories in the Coca-Cola 600 in 1982 & '83 and The Busch Clash (now Bud Shootout) races at Daytona International Speedway in 1983 & '84. Bonnett finished 4th in the championship standings in 1985.

After he retired from racing, Bonnett became a very popular TV race commentator and anaylst.

Sadly, Bonnett was fatally injured in a crash during practice for the 1994 Daytona 500.
