Al Holbert Memorial

National Driver of the Year Award

This award is named after a Pennsylvania based driver who was a great driver and role model for auto racing. Holbert was a great supporter of the EMPA in its early years.
Richie Evans

Northeast Driver of the Year Award

Considered by many to one of the best modified drivers of his generation. Evans died in 1985 in a practice session for a Modified race at Martinsville Speedway.

This award honors the best North East driver of the year.

Junie Donlavey

Spirit of the Sport Award

Donlavey was a successful Modified and NASCAR racecar owner and a gentleman.He was a longtime particpant in NASCAR Cup racing. Many well known drivers competed in his cars.

He often had a limited budget but his cars always showed  first class workmanship and he showed a work ethic that was second to none.

This award goes out to those who personifies Donlavey's  racing spirit.

T. Wayne Robertson Newsmaker Award Robertson was a enthusiastic supporter and promoter of auto racing through his position in the marketing division of RJ Reynolds Tobacco Company.

This award goes out to the person who has made the biggest impact  that year in racing.

John Blewett lll Young Guns Award Presented by New England Fuels John Blewett lll was considered by many to be one of the brightest stars in modified racing. He was taken too soon in 2007 in a racing incident.

This award is given out to the driver who has shows the promise of being a superstar in the making.

Frank Blunk Writer of the Year award Blunk was an top N.Y. sportswriter who represented the craft of journalism with style and professionalism. Blunk was a great promoter of local racing and was a fervant supporter of EMPA in its early years.

This award is given out to the writer who personifies Blunk's spirit.

Art McHugh Memorial Award Art McHugh was a tireless supporter of EMPA who worked behind the scenes to make EMPA a success.  This award is given out the person to thank them for all the hours they worked behind the scenes so that their efforts will not go unnoticed.
Ace Lane Memorial Photographer of the Year Award Ace Lane Sr. was a true master of the art of racing photography and a consumate gentleman who helped aspiring photographers reach their potential. His son, Ace Lane Jr. follows in his footsteps.

 This award is given out to a photographer who personifies Ace Lane Sr.'s talent and spirit.

Jerry Glase  Award

Glase was an outstanding announcer at Grandview Speedway who always willing to lend a helping hand and never expected anything in return.

This award is given out to an individual who personifies his spirit.
