How To Join EMPA

Bobby Allison was born on December 3 1937 in Miami Florida. He moved to Hueytown Alabama.

He started racing in 1966. Bobby, brother Donny, Neil Bonnett and Red Farmer traveled together from track to track and cleaned up the purses. Soon they became known as the Alabama Gang.

Allison is ranked third on NASCAR's all-time win list. He won the Daytona 500 three times and the Winston Cup championship in 1983. His win at the 1988 Daytona 500 was the most memorable win because his son Davey finished a close second had all the fans standing in their seats. Unfortunatly, a short time later his career ended in a near-fatal racing accident at Pocono Raceway in 1988.

Bobby and his wife Judy had two sons which followed in their father's footsteps and became noted racers in their own right. Davey and Clifford. Sadly both were killed before they reached the hight of their careers. Clifford died in 1992 at Michigan ina a practice crash and Davey died while landing his helicopter at Talledga almost a year later.
